Last updated: July 13, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how upwegrowtropicals.com ("upwegrow," “Site,” "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and discloses your personal information when you visit or make a purchase from upwegrowtropicals.com (the "Site").

We are based in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, and this policy is written to comply with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA).

Personal Information We Collect

When you visit the Site, we automatically collect certain information about your device, including information about your web browser, IP address, time zone, and some of the cookies installed on your device. We refer to this automatically-collected information as "Device Information."

We collect Device Information using Google Analytics. To learn more about how Google uses your information, visit policies.google.com/privacy. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

Additionally, when you make a purchase or attempt to make a purchase through the Site, or sign up for our email or SMS list, we collect certain information from you, including your name, billing and shipping address, email address, phone number, and payment information (via our payment processor — we do not store your full credit card details). We refer to this information as "Order Information."

When we talk about "Personal Information" in this Privacy Policy, we are talking both about Device Information and Order Information.

How We Use Your Personal Information

We use the Order Information we collect generally to fulfill any orders placed through the Site, including to:

  • Process payment information
  • Arrange shipping
  • Provide you with invoices and/or order confirmations
  • Communicate with you about your order, our products, and our store
  • Screen orders for potential risk or fraud
  • Provide you with information or advertising relating to our products or services, where consistent with your preferences

We use the Device Information we collect to help us screen for potential risk and fraud, and more generally to improve and optimize our Site (for example, by generating analytics about how customers browse and interact with the Site, and to assess the success of our marketing and advertising campaigns).

Email and SMS Marketing

If you sign up for our email newsletter or SMS list, we use your contact information to send you updates about new plant drops, care tips, promotions, and store news. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email, and from SMS by replying STOP to any message. We will still send you transactional messages related to your orders (such as shipping confirmations) even if you unsubscribe from marketing.

Sharing Your Personal Information

We share your Personal Information with third parties to help us use it as described above. For example, we use Shopify to power our online store — you can read more about how Shopify uses your Personal Information at shopify.com/legal/privacy. We also use Google Analytics to help us understand how our customers use the Site.

We may also share your Personal Information to comply with applicable laws and regulations, to respond to a subpoena, search warrant, or other lawful request for information we receive, or to otherwise protect our rights.

We do not sell your Personal Information to third parties.

Behavioural Advertising

We use your Personal Information to provide you with targeted advertisements or marketing communications we believe may be of interest to you. For more information about how targeted advertising works, you can visit the Network Advertising Initiative's educational page at networkadvertising.org.

Data Retention

When you place an order through the Site, we will retain your Order Information for our records unless and until you ask us to delete this information. We retain Device Information for as long as necessary for the purposes for which we collected it.

Your Rights

If you are a Canadian resident, under PIPEDA you have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, to be informed about how it has been used, and to request that we correct any inaccurate information. You may also withdraw your consent to our collection, use, or disclosure of your information, subject to legal or contractual restrictions.

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the information in the "Contact Us" section below.

Cookies

Cookies are small data files placed on your device or computer. We use cookies to operate our Site, run our business, and improve your experience when you browse the Site. Most web browsers let you manage your cookie preferences, including deleting or disabling cookies through your browser settings — note that removing or blocking cookies may affect your experience on the Site, and some features may no longer be fully accessible.

Children's Privacy

The Site is not intended for individuals under the age of 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time in order to reflect changes to our practices or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
