Philodendron Green Congo Nuclear Variegated

Rare plants have a reputation for being divas. The Variegated Philodendron Green Congo Nuclear didn't get the memo. Its big, glossy leaves come splashed with cream, butter-yellow and soft lime over deep green, and every new leaf is a little reveal of its own.

This is a variegated form of Philodendron 'Green Congo' [VERIFY], a self-heading philodendron. That means it grows upright from a central crown instead of vining or climbing, so it stays tidy and compact while the leaves get larger as it matures. The variegation is natural and unpredictable: some leaves arrive heavily marbled, others mostly green. Prune any fully green stems that pop up to keep the colour coming.

Care snapshot

• Light: Bright, indirect light. The cream and yellow sections can't make much energy, so good light keeps the plant strong and the variegation looking its best. Avoid harsh direct sun, which can scorch the pale patches.
• Water: When the top inch or two of soil is dry. A chunky, well-draining aroid mix keeps the roots happy and makes overwatering much harder to do.
• Difficulty: Beginner. A rare plant that's genuinely forgiving, which is exactly why we love it.
• Pet-safety: Toxic to cats and dogs if chewed or eaten (like all philodendrons). Best kept out of reach of curious pets.

What you'll receive

Every variegated plant is one of a kind, so the Green Congo Nuclear you receive will have its own pattern and may look a little different from the photo. That's the fun of variegation: no two are ever the same.

Why you'll love it

It's the rare-plant thrill without the rare-plant stress. Upright, easygoing and painted with colour, it makes a confident centrepiece for a beginner and a satisfying find for a seasoned collector. Give it a bright spot and watch it thrive.
