Sonerila sp. "Green Spots"

Small plant, big personality. Our Sonerila sp. 'Green Spots' (Sonerila sp.) wears deep green, softly textured leaves dusted with pale speckles, like someone flicked a paintbrush across every one. It's a compact little showpiece made for terrariums, cloches, and bioactive setups.

Sonerila grows wild on the shaded, humid forest floors of tropical Southeast Asia, tucked between mossy rocks and leaf litter. That backstory tells you exactly what it wants: gentle light, steady moisture, and air that never gets too dry. Give it those and it stays low and tidy, slowly filling out with fresh speckled leaves. Inside a closed or semi-closed terrarium, it's genuinely at home.

Care snapshot

• Light: Medium to bright, indirect light. Harsh sun will scorch those leaves, and grow lights work beautifully in a terrarium.
• Water: Keep the soil lightly and evenly moist, never soggy and never bone dry. A fluffy, well-draining mix helps the roots breathe.
• Difficulty: Intermediate. Easy once its humidity needs are met, which is why it shines in a terrarium.
• Pet-safety: Not known to be toxic to cats or dogs, but toxicity data for this genus is limited, so we recommend keeping it out of reach.

What you'll receive

Plants are living things, so your Sonerila will have its own character. The spotting and leaf shape may vary slightly from the photo, and that's part of the charm.

Why you'll love it

It's the kind of plant that makes people lean in for a closer look. Compact enough for the smallest terrarium, interesting enough for a seasoned collector, and a lovely next step if you're ready to grow beyond the basics. Give it a home in your little living world and watch it thrive.
